 mIn 1974, shortly after the 1980 Olympic Winter Games were awarded to Lake
  Placid, members of the community decided to create a collection of materi
 als pertaining to the Games for future use in a museum/research facility. 
 At the end of the 1980 Olympic Winter Games, the Olympic and Winter Sport
 s Museum, a private, not-for-profit museum, was opened at the former Austr
 ia House in Lake Placid. Today the Lake Placid Olympic Museum celebrates a
 nd continues the legacy of their role in the Olympic Winter Games through 
 inspiration and engagement. Join us online as we take a tour of the museum
 . Staff will share stories from their collection helping us celebrate the
